Job Description - Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) - Welcoming

EOE Statement

At HOPE, our goal is to be a diverse workforce that is representative, at all job levels, of the community we serve.  We embrace and encourage our employees’ differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language,  national  origin,  physical  and  mental  ability,  political  affiliation,  race,  religion,  sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique. We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer.

Overview

HOPE Community Services, Inc. is a leading outpatient treatment provider in south Oklahoma City.  We provide compassionate trauma informed care to individuals whose lives have been impacted by mental health and substance use disorders. We do this by providing compassionate and evidence-based treatment, aimed at improving the quality of life for those we serve.

We are seeking a Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) to join our Welcoming team. This position is essential in helping individuals feel supported, informed, and comfortable as they begin services at HOPE. By creating a safe and compassionate environment, you will help ease the intake process and connect people to the care they need.

Have you experienced your own recovery journey from mental illness or substance use? Do you feel called to support others as they take their first steps into recovery? If so, this position may be the right fit for you.

About the Position
As a Peer Recovery Support Specialist on the Welcoming team, you will greet and support new clients as they arrive for services. You will play a key role in helping individuals navigate the intake process, providing reassurance, encouragement, and information about recovery and available resources. Using your lived experience, you’ll build rapport and help clients feel comfortable, respected, and empowered as they begin care.

This position includes peer mentoring, orientation support, resource connection, and working closely with Access staff to ensure that each person has a welcoming, trauma-informed introduction to HOPE’s services.

About the Program

The Welcoming team is part of HOPE Community Services’ Access and Intake Program. This program ensures that individuals entering care have a supportive and seamless start. Welcoming staff guide clients through their first experiences at HOPE—reducing anxiety, answering questions, and building trust from the very beginning. The team provides support to individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, or co-occurring challenges, many of whom may have experienced trauma. Through compassionate engagement, the program helps clients feel safe, connected, and ready to begin their recovery journey.
