Position Description




Position Title: Peer Support Specialist


Reports To: Integrated Services Coordinator


Status: Full-Time, Hourly, Monday-Friday days


Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota


Pay Range: $20-23/hour 



Position Summary


Project Recovery is a mission-driven substance use disorder clinic committed to harm reduction and low-barrier, evidence-based addiction treatment. We know recovery looks different for everyone and walk alongside people on their journeys.  We are looking for a certified Peer Support Specialist who brings lived experience, compassion, and strong communication skills to support individuals with recovery—while also managing daily front desk operations with professionalism and heart.



What You’ll Do


Peer Support



  • Build supportive, non-judgmental relationships with individuals accessing care

  • Share your recovery journey to foster hope, engagement, and empowerment

  • Facilitate peer-led visits, recovery check-ins, and wellness support

  • Assist patients with community and healthcare system navigation 

  • Collaborate with medical and counseling teams to promote whole-person care


Front Desk 



  • Greet patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism

  • Answer calls, schedule appointments, manage calendars, and maintain records

  • Assist with intake forms, insurance verification, and documentation

  • Maintain a welcoming, trauma-informed front office environment

  • Uphold confidentiality and ensure smooth clinic operations


What You Bring



  • Lived experience with substance use and at least one year engaged in active recovery 

  • Certified Peer Support Specialist credential with a minimum of one year of professional peer support experience

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to de-escalate with empathy

  • Experience using a medical record, phone system, and basic office software

  • Commitment to harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and health equity

  • Reliability, punctuality, and team-oriented mindset
