Job Description - Peer Support Specialist - MOMS Program


Due to continuing growth, Meridian HealthCare is looking for a full-time Peer Support Specialist to act as a recovery liaison, advocate, and educator for Meridian Healthcare’s MOM’s (Maternal Opiate Medical Support) Program.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

· Provide support services including referrals to community-based programs, the facilitation of groups, and life skills assistance and connection to needed resources.

· Develop recovery support services within the clinical and supportive programs including 12 Step Focused Recovery groups. 

· Provide support and education in personal care/self-help, substance abuse recovery and relapse prevention skills, parenting skills, prenatal and postnatal instruction. 

· Participate in weekly treatment team to report on client progress in recovery and readiness to engage in goals indicated by the treatment plan.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

· High School Diploma or GED required

· Knowledge of substance use and mental health recovery required 

· Active Peer Recovery Support certification from the Ohio Mental Health and Recovery Board required
