Job Description - Peer Volunteer Coordinator - Turning Point Recovery Center

Description

The Peer Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers with lived experience of substance use and recovery. This role ensures that peer support is effectively integrated into recovery services, creating a compassionate and empowering environment for individuals navigating their recovery journeys. The ideal candidate is a passionate advocate for recovery, understands the value of lived experience, and is skilled in program coordination and volunteer development. 

*Interested candidates should submit/upload a recent professional resume along with a detailed cover letter that describes their lived experience with substance use and recovery, and how that experience informs their approach to peer support. 

What You Will Doing to Make a Difference...

 

· Assist Program Director in developing strategies to increase peer volunteer retention and engagement

· Assist Program Director in developing peer volunteer training programs and resources

· Responsible for providing on-going training to peer volunteers

· Train and support peers to develop and utilize working groups and committees

· Oversee new peer groups and activity development. 

· Provide support, resources, and assistance

· Responsible for coordinating with peer volunteers

· Match peer volunteers with appropriate roles based on their skills and interests

· Coordinate peer volunteer schedules and ensure coverage for operating hours of the Center 

· Lead peer volunteer meetings and gatherings

Requirements

· Lived experience with sustained recovery is required 

· Must have attended the DPH-BSAS 5-day Recovery Coach Academy, CARC certification is preferred. 

· Respects and advocates for all paths to recovery 

· Experience with event and resource coordination is required 

· Understanding of the recovery process is required 

· Strong organizational and communication skills. 

· Have a deep understanding of the principles of peer support and recovery
