Pellet (Extrusion ) Operator - EREMA (Night Shift)

At Evergreen, we’re in business to change the world. Evergreen was originally founded in 1998 to provide a sustainable, reliable supply of quality polyester resin. Each year, Evergreen recycles billions of PET bottles, keeping them out of landfills, oceans, rivers, forests, and roadways. We also produce hundreds of millions of pounds of recycled PET plastic that goes into new bottles and other products.

There’s another important side to Evergreen. We partner with municipal and commercial recycling facilities as well as business and industrial customers, accepting recyclable material and offering rebates for PET bottles and other PET material. This material is then sorted and made ready for other uses. The end goal is to make landfills a thing of the past, help customers achieve sustainability goals and make the circular economy possible for all of us.

The Pellet Line operator works under the supervision of the Extrusion Team Leader. Responsible for producing Food Grade quality by maintaining Food Grade parameters. Performs housekeeping duties and other tasks as assigned.

Safety

• Understands the company’s commitment to safety.
• Understands the basic safety requirements, policies, and SOP’s.
• Understands the disciplinary policy for safety violations.
• Understands the Zero Tolerance Safety Rules.
• Understands and follows plant safety procedures and guidelines.
• Wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Understands Lock-Out/Tag-Out policies and procedures.
• Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately, this includes witnessing such acts committed by other employees.
• Participates in required safety training and toolbox talks.
• Be aware of the surroundings, watch where you are walking.
• Knows emergency procedures and what to do in the event of power outages, machines failures, workplace injuries, etc.
• Responsible to look for hazards, continuously and notify supervisor of any safety hazards.

Tasks

• Maintains FDM level on both Erema lines by operating Pelletron flake silo discharges and debagging operations.
• Performs hourly readings.
• Performs weekly and Monthly PMs when assigned.
• Completes Screen Changer screen changes when necessary.
• Removes Screen Changer purge, breaks purge, bags purge pieces and straps bag.
• Keeps Una-Dyn units full for Erema 1 and Erema 2 by working with bagging station operators and keeping reintroduction bags hung.
• Sign off on all Erema procedures, and able to carry out all tasks without assistance.
• Sign off on all Starlinger procedures, and able to carry out all tasks without assistance.
• Fills in for Starlinger operators when shorthanded.
• Cleans all pellet, oil, toner, water, and flake spills.
• Changes all candle filters when necessary.
• Cleans all heat exchangers in the Erema department.
• Cleans top, bottom, and inside all equipment, including KTs, Reactor, and Motans.
• Cleans trench from Erema 1 to Wastewater.
• Empties KTs, Reactor, CIC, and Motans using a shovel when necessary.
• Empties pellet from all water basins in the Extrusion department.
• Samples Amorphous, Post CIC, and Classifier when necessary.
• Completes end of shift report for Erema 1 and Erema 2
• Works with maintenance to troubleshoot and test equipment.
• Opens and closes KT, Reactor, and Motan manholes when necessary.
• General housekeeping of all work areas.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Must have an excellent attendance record.
• Must be able to communicate with all employees.
• Must possess a high level of integrity, be able to complete administrative tasks accurately and take direction effectively.
• Must be able to work with little to no supervision.
• Must have a demonstrated ability in mechanical and technical aptitude.
• Must be able to maintain an Evergreen Plastics’ Powered Industrial Truck, Boom lift, Scissor Lift Operators permits.
• Must be a high energy – self-motivated individual with good attention to detail.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• 1-2 years manufacturing or warehousing experience.
• Read, write and possess basic math skills
• Prior manufacturing experience a plus
• Physically lift 60 lbs. to a six-foot height

Rotating Schedule:

• Hours: 3:45pm to 4:00am
• Week 1: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
• Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
