People & Culture Generalist

About the Role

The People & Culture Generalist plays a key supportive role in creating a positive, inclusive, and values-driven workplace. This position provides essential day-to-day People & Culture operational support, strengthens the Associate experience, and helps ensure smooth, compliant, and people-centered processes across the organization. The Generalist works closely with candidates, new hires, Associates, and leaders while assisting with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, data accuracy, and engagement initiatives.

You support recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and engagement initiatives while building trusted relationships with Associates and Leaders. Through your commitment to service, collaboration, and operational excellence, you help foster an inclusive workplace culture where people feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.

Employee Experience, Support & Engagement

•  Assist with people-centered practices that promote fairness, belonging, and organizational connection.
•  Help facilitate morale, recognition, and engagement initiatives across the organization.
•  Maintain timely and clear communication with applicants, new hires, and Associates.

Recruitment, Onboarding & Talent Support

• Aid in recruitment and retention activities, including application management and candidate communication.
•  Schedule and conduct pre-employment meetings and assist with new employee orientation.
•  Complete employment verifications and maintain accurate personnel files.
•  Manage monthly tracking and preparation of performance reviews.

People Operations, Compliance & Workforce Processes

• Assist in ensuring that people processes meet all federal, state, and local regulations.
•  Perform routine I-9 audits and support compliance with licensure and credential verification (RN, CNA, etc.).
•  Record, update, and communicate changes related to employee status, benefits, reviews, and pay.
•  Support the maintenance of employee handbooks and People & Culture policies.
•  Provide administrative support including scanning, filing, scheduling, and document management.

Collaboration, Communication & Organizational Support

•  Work cooperatively with all departments to ensure a positive and efficient workflow.
•  Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity in all People & Culture responsibilities.
•  Take initiative to improve processes, support change efforts, and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

•  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience in HR or a related discipline.
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and common digital communication platforms.
•  Experience with HR practices, employment laws, compliance, compensation, organizational planning, and/or employee relations preferred.

•  Ability to stay organized, maintain accuracy, and prioritize effectively.

Position Details

• Equipment: Computer, scanner, copier, printer, camera, and 10-key proficiency.
• Schedule: Full-time, non-exempt; 36-40 hours/week with a flexible schedule and regular attendance.
• Physical Requirements: Primarily seated computer work with periods of walking, standing, bending, or stooping; repetitive motion with hands/wrists; adequate hearing and vision for communication tasks.
