Our dairy cooperative is seeking an onsite People & Culture Manager at our Cabot, Vermont manufacturing and packaging location.
What you'll be doing:
Oversee and direct the daily workflow of the department.
Lead, coach and develop People & Culture team members.
Conduct all facets of employee relations including leader and employee coaching, investigations, and supporting leaders with disciplinary activities.
Provide support and advice to leaders and employees in administering various policies and procedures.
Provide performance management coaching and direction to leadership on best practices and process as they evaluate their direct reports. Assist leaders to improve employee performance.
Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention and succession planning.
Oversee new hire on-boarding that will provide and foster a positive experience for new employees and ensure they begin in the best possible environment.
Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Design, coordinate, manage and/or conduct training sessions as needed for leaders and employees. Training to include but not limited to leader competencies, employment law, and other training designed to foster a collaborative, healthy and safe workplace.
Ensure job descriptions are developed for all positions in area of responsibility which are consistently formatted and updated per established company guidelines.
Support leaders and employees with information about various programs, including but not limited to disability, worker's compensation, and FMLA claim management. Work with employees and leaders to assist in the claim processes, and in the tracking of employees who are out of work due to an injury. Participate in injury/ accident investigations and aide in the mitigation of future injuries.
Utilize and maintain HR Information System (HRIS) and Payroll Interface to update or initiate employee data and/or support the team in doing so.
Facilitate local employee communications.
Work on a variety of special projects relative to the development and implementation of business unit and People & Culture policies / programs.
Apply a continuous improvement mindset seeking to improve various processes and procedures.
All other duties as assigned.
What we are seeking:
Proven experience in People & Culture leadership roles.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor others.
Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal/written) skills are essential. Ability to write detailed correspondence. Ability to present information in one-on-one and/or larger group situations.
Strong analytical skills to identify root causes and resolve situations and problems with viable solutions.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with demonstrated skill in organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS, and other computer-based applications.
Ability to stay calm under pressure.
Ability to handle delicate matters in a professional, confidential and caring manner.
A high degree of integrity, ethics and sound judgment.
Ability and willingness to travel by car to other company locations on occasion.
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred.
5 years related experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Prior experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
Working knowledge of UKG preferred.
Pay range for this position is $100,000-$125,000, depending on experience.
