What You Will Do


The People Operations Manager plays a critical role in building a strong, accountable, and people-centered organization at Relay Hill. You’ll own human resources, organizational administration, training and development, and culture-building across a growing number of locations in Colorado. This role requires hands-on leadership in building systems and processes while maintaining a focus on execution in a high-performing and scaling organization. This role balances execution and strategy. You will translate the core values of the organization into its ongoing people management activities. While prioritizing empathy and encouraging growth in employees, you’ll establish a culture of accountability and consistency across the team. You align with the company values and help ensure the values guide daily behavior, shape company culture, and drive strategic decision-making at the company.


Responsibilities:



  • Lead and execute core HR functions including payroll, benefits, onboarding, employee relations, compliance / employment law, full life-cycle employee experience, etc.

  • Interface with CultureIndex platform and consultancy.

  • Facilitate and improve ongoing monthly and quarterly performance review processes.

  • Work as an “HR team of 1”.

  • Support senior leadership on people management including recruitment coordination.

  • Establish training protocols, organize and administer learning opportunities at all levels of the enterprise.

  • Provide quarterly development assessment scores for all organization personnel.

  • Expand and enhance training and development programs for employees.

  • Strengthen communication, trust, and collaboration across teams.

  • Leverage AI to maximize efficiency and impact in role.

  • Oversee social and team building opportunities.

  • Provide leadership in community engagement efforts.

  • Manage onboarding/offboarding access and documentation processes.

  • Assist with M&A, integrating people and systems.

  • Partner with senior leaders in ongoing operational needs.

  • Support owner with special organizational projects.


Who You Are


You're used to operating at the pace of a fast-growing business and building trust with senior leaders along the way. You bring high emotional intelligence, with a real understanding of behavioral science, human psychology, organizational development, and what drives high-performing team cultures. You're highly independent, exercise sound judgment, and lead by example. You take initiative, get projects to the finish line, multitask easily, and shift priorities quickly when needed. You're comfortable acting without perfect information, trusted with sensitive personnel and business matters, and communicate clearly.


Qualifications:



  • 4+ years of experience in HR administration or as an HR generalist, ideally supporting a multi-location or fast-growing business.

  • Strong working knowledge of payroll, benefits administration, and employment law compliance.

  • Familiarity with training and development programs.

  • Hands on experience as the primary point of contact for HR in a lean organization.

  • Working knowledge of HRIS systems like ADP Workforce.

  • Ability to regularly travel to multiple locations within the Denver Metro Area.

  • Experience in the trades (automotive, construction, plumbing, HVAC), at a startup or with a private equity backed, multi-location business is preferred.
