Job Description - Per Diem Crisis Clinician

Looking for a role that fits your life? Our per‑diem clinician position offers meaningful work with the flexibility to choose when you practice.


As the Crisis Clinician provides family-based mental health counseling, therapy, and case management services to children and families. They conduct assessments of needs, safety planning, and crisis intervention as needed. In addition, Crisis Clinicians link the youth to further mental health services if needed, such as Wraparound, psychotherapy, support groups, and other community services.

ABOUT VENTURA COUNTY CRISIS SERVICES


Seneca's Ventura County Crisis Services program offers a spectrum of behavioral health care crisis services to support youth and their families. These services provide safe refuge for young people who have experienced profound mental health needs including psychiatric evaluation or hospitalization. Services include crisis stabilization and short-term acute residential treatment, as well as transition and planning services to return youth to a setting in the community with stability.

Responsibilities



  • Serve as the clinical lead and work with the treatment team to provide crisis intervention and other mental health services as needed.

  • Provide counseling, comprehensive assessment, and case management services to ensure the successful transition of clients and their families to other community-based resources.

  • Participate in all treatment reviews, program staff meetings, and additional meetings when necessary.

  • Coordinate with necessary collateral contacts, including caregivers and family members as needed.

  • Work with treatment team to determine course of action for follow-up services.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members and providers.

  • Participate in on-call system as needed.

  • Complete progress notes and other paperwork, and complete service tracking documentation as indicated.

  • Participate in weekly supervision with the program supervisor or designee.

  • Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings, weekends, and provide on-call coverage as needed.

  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's Equilibrium model training. 


Qualifications:




  • Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work.

  • Registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)

  • Strong communication skills and flexibility.

  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • At least 21 years of age.

  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements.

  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies’ insurance policy.


Preferred



  • Experience working with children and families.


Schedule



  • Per Diem


    • Day and overnight shift available: 7am-7:30pm OR 7pm - 7:30am

    • Overnight differential will be provided for overnight hours worked in Seneca's Ventura County Crisis Program.



Benefits



  • Starting at $34.11 - $40.84 per hour.

    • Actual salary is dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role.

    • Additional compensation provided upon passing bilingual language proficiency exam.
