Perfusion Technician-Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center-Full Time

A Perfusion Technician assembles, tests, and prepares cardiopulmonary bypass circuits and related extracorporeal equipment to support surgical procedures. They independently staff autotransfusion, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) cases, ensuring safe and efficient operation of all devices. The role supports the perfusion team through equipment readiness, quality assurance, and adherence to aseptic and patient safety standards.

• Build and prime perfusion related devices including, but not limited to: Cellsaver/Autotransfusion, Heart/Lung machine, PRP, BMAC

• Ensures appropriate set up and break down of equipment in cardiac operating rooms.

• Provide autologous blood recovery and biologic therapy as required

• Manages perfusion supplies and equipment inventory at all AHS hospitals.

• Collect clinical samples and deliver to lab for processing.

• Maintain optimal communication, close cooperation, and consultation with perfusionist and physicians during delivery of services

• Assist with the transport of equipment and gain understanding of new equipment or processes, where applicable

• Maintain proficiency with the operation and maintenance of a variety of autologous blood equipment and procedures such as autologous cell salvage, production of concentrated platelet rich plasma

• Maintain appropriate, timely, and accurate documentation including pre-procedure checklist and filing of all records

• Assist in the education, orientation, and training of new staff

• Supports hospitals throughout the AHS network, as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Associates Degree in Health Science and/or Certification from Technical School Program

• Minimum of 2 years of related hospital perfusion services experience or related manufacturer experience and/or demonstrates equivalent proficiencies

• Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and chemistry

• Basic knowledge of hospital operations and regulatory requirements (as applicable)

• Able to stand for long periods of time.

• Able to lift 50 pounds
