Job Description - Permitting Specialist

Bring your SSNP experience to a role where you can make a real impact.

Ready to trade the pace of government for the momentum of the private sector? Or looking to spend less time in the field and more time applying your expertise to meaningful projects? This is your opportunity to do both.

Your environmental expertise can move waterfront projects from an idea to construction on the water. This is your opportunity to have autonomy, a voice at the table, and ownership of the permitting process across marina, yacht club, port, and residential dock projects throughout the Puget Sound. You will solve complex regulatory challenges, see projects through approval, and work alongside experienced professionals who value your judgment and recommendations.

Environmental Permit Specialist – Your Job Duties

You will lead environmental permitting efforts for marine infrastructure, marina development, waterfront construction, and dock projects from planning through approval.

You will:

  • Guide marine construction, marina, and residential dock projects through environmental and shoreline permitting.
  • Work directly with agencies, tribes, consultants, engineers, and clients to secure project approvals.
  • Prepare permit applications, environmental documents, and agency submissions, including USACE Section 10 permits, JARPA applications, SEPA documentation, HPA applications, and DNR lease materials.
  • Prepare and coordinate Salish Sea Nearshore Programmatic (SSNP) calculator submissions and supporting documentation for agency review and approval.
  • Review plans, coordinate environmental studies, and identify permitting roadblocks before they delay projects.
  • Help clients navigate complex regulations and develop practical solutions to permitting challenges.
  • Manage mitigation calculations, in-lieu fee conservation credits, and plans for new mitigation sites.
  • Build strong relationships with regulators and stakeholders to keep projects moving forward.

Environmental Permit Specialist – Your Experience

You have experience with the Salish Sea Nearshore Programmatic (SSNP) calculator to prepare submissions that received agency approvals.

You might also have experience with:

  • Preparing JARPA applications, SEPA documentation, HPA applications, and DNR lease materials
  • Experience working with biological opinions
  • GIS or ArcGIS experience and familiarity with CAD software
  • An understanding of marine construction equipment and practices, including tugboats, barges, pile driving, cranes, bubble and sediment curtains, and pile-driving best management practices
  • Familiarity with CERCLA projects and wood preservative treatments such as creosote and chemonite

Environmental Permit Specialist – Benefits for You

Your compensation will be depending on your experience up to $125,000++, flexible plus annual salary plus up to a 15% bonus opportunity.

Your medical insurance will be fully paid by the company for you, with multiple medical plan options so you can choose the coverage that best fits your needs. You will also have access to an HSA, Section 125 plan, HRA options, and a comprehensive benefits package.
