Person In Charge (PIC)

The Person in Charge (PIC) serves as the acting store leader during assigned shifts and is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused store operations. The PIC provides leadership and direction to store associates, supports department operations, addresses customer concerns, and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures. This role acts as a key point of contact for operational issues and helps maintain a positive shopping experience while achieving store performance goals.

• Serve as the acting manager on duty during assigned shifts.


• Monitor overall store conditions to ensure operational excellence, cleanliness, safety, and customer readiness.


• Support opening, closing, and shift-management responsibilities.


• Coordinate store activities and address operational challenges as they arise.


• Ensure all departments are operating efficiently and meeting company standards.

• Provide guidance, direction, and support to associates across all store departments.


• Promote teamwork, accountability, and excellent customer service.


• Assist department managers and store leadership with operational priorities.


• Communicate company initiatives, priorities, and expectations to associates.


• Support training and development efforts through coaching and on-the-job guidance.

• Promote a customer-first culture throughout the store.


• Respond to and resolve customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.


• Ensure associates deliver friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable service.


• Monitor store conditions to provide an exceptional shopping experience.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety programs, and operational procedures.


• Monitor store safety conditions and address potential hazards immediately.


• Support food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance initiatives.


• Complete required operational documentation and incident reporting.


• Assist with emergency response procedures when necessary.

• Oversee cash office and front-end compliance as assigned.


• Ensure proper cash-handling procedures are followed.


• Support loss prevention initiatives and inventory protection efforts.


• Monitor store activity and report operational or security concerns.


• Ensure associates follow company policies regarding transactions and asset protection.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for associates when store leadership is unavailable.


• Escalate significant operational, customer, or associate issues as appropriate.


• Make informed decisions to maintain business continuity during shifts.


• Communicate effectively with store leadership regarding shift activities and concerns.
