Compensation Range

Personal Banker Specialist are the key ambassadors of the Commerce Bank brand.  In this retail banking role, you will develop and maintain long lasting relationships with not only your customers, but with your co-workers and other lines of business within Commerce.  As a Personal Banker Specialist, your goal is to uncover the financial needs of each customer and educate them on solutions to address those needs. 

As a Personal Banker Specialist, you’ll: 

• Receive the tools, resources, and training you need to be successful. 

• Maximize the customer’s experience during interactions while executing Commerce Bank’s expectations and assist in meeting the branch team’s goals

• Ensure financial transactions are completed accurately and efficiently, while complying with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. 

• Handle sales interactions with customers while occasionally process their service transactions and safeguard against fraud

• Actively listen to our customers so you can make appropriate recommendations that match their needs. 

• Establish relationships with internal departments and refer customers to bank specialists when complex financial needs are identified. 

• Interact with customers both in person and through proactive phone calls to ensure we are meeting their financial needs. 

• Be able to earn more than your base pay through our quarterly incentive program. 

Essential Functions

• Maximize the customer’s experience during interactions while executing Commerce Bank’s expectations and assist in meeting the branch team’s goals

• Obtain and evaluate customer information and develop recommendations to match and satisfy customer needs

• Establish relationships with internal departments and refer customers to bank specialists when complex financial needs are identified

• Serve as a mentor by providing insight and experience based training for new team members

• Promote Commerce Bank products and services based on customer’s needs

• Actively listen to customer needs and make recommendation and referrals based on their needs

• Handle sales interactions with customers and occasionally process their service transactions and safeguard against fraud

• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• Strong customer service skills with the ability to quickly connect with customers

• Ability to leverage sales process within customer interactions and cross sell on Commerce Bank products and refer customer to Bank Specialist

• Ability to cross sell retail banking products such as Home Equity and Auto Loan products based on the customer needs

• Basic leadership skills with the ability to motivate new team members and foster a positive team environment

• Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

• Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

• Advance level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook  

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required

• 3+ years related banking experience required

• 1+ year with Commerce Bank

• Experience working in an enviornment with individual and team sales goals required

For this position, federal regulations require Commerce Bank to prepare an investigatory consumer report which will disclose credit history. If you express interest in and are considered for this position, you will be asked to authorize that report

This compensation range is for the Personal Banker Specialist job and contemplates a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to location, skill sets, education, relevant experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Commerce, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $23.00 to $26.00 per hour. This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
