Job Description - Personal Injury Attorney

Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year

Location

This is a full-time hybrid opportunity based in Washington, D.C. Our team works three days in the office and two days remotely each week. Wednesdays are a required in-office day, with the remaining in-office days determined by team and business needs.

Note

Candidates must have active Virginia and Maryland Bar licenses and at least 1+ year of directly relevant plaintiff-side litigation experience. Personal injury experience is strongly preferred, but we are also open to attorneys with comparable experience in workers' compensation, medical malpractice, mass torts, plaintiff-side employment litigation, or a similar practice area. D.C. Bar admission or the ability to obtain admission promptly is also expected.

Job Description

  • Manage a diverse caseload of personal injury matters from inception through settlement or litigation.
  • Develop case strategy by evaluating liability, damages, medical records, evidence, and potential recovery.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients, providing clear updates, guidance, and responsive communication throughout their cases.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, settlement documents, case summaries, and other legal filings.
  • Conduct and defend depositions and actively manage the discovery process.
  • Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers and opposing counsel.
  • Prepare matters for mediation, arbitration, hearings, and trial when appropriate.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, conferences, and other litigation-related appearances.
  • Manage deadlines, case records, and competing priorities across a high-volume caseload.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, case managers, and support staff to keep matters moving efficiently toward resolution.

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Active Virginia and Maryland Bar licenses required.
  • 1+ year of personal injury or comparable plaintiff-side litigation experience.
  • D.C. Bar membership or willingness and ability to obtain admission promptly.
  • Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, analytical, and client communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a busy caseload and multiple deadlines.
  • Experience with discovery, depositions, and litigation procedures.
  • Deposition and trial experience preferred.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus.
  • Comfortable working with technology and legal case management systems.
