Pest Control Field Scout - Central Region

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Field Scout to monitor crop health, identify pest and disease pressures, and assist in collecting critical field data to support decision-making. The Field Scout plays a key role in ensuring optimal crop performance through timely observations and reporting. Requiring regular travel within a designated region, with flexibility to work across multiple sites and in varying climates as needed.

Here's what you'll do:

• Perform regular field visits to assess pest and disease presence, and overall plant health.
• Collect data on weed populations, insect activity, disease symptoms, and environmental conditions.
• Place, collect, and count trap data.
• Record and report findings using standardized scouting forms, apps, or software platforms.
• Assist in the implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies
• Communicate findings and field observations to Pest Control Advisor (PCA) in a timely and accurate manner
• Release biological control organisms where warranted
• Collects soil and tissue samples for lab analysis
• Other technical tasks as assigned by supervisor
• Must understand and follow Supervisor's directions and meet standards set for each job assigned.
• Performs all tasks in a safe manner. Required to wear all safety gear assigned and asks for instructions when unfamiliar or lacking knowledge of proper safety procedures.

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

• Valid California driver’s license.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and walking long distances in fields.
• Familiarity with mobile apps and GPS-based tools.
• Strong observational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to read and write English.

Pay Range: $19.75 - 20.25 per hour. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
