PETROLEUM STORAGE ENGINEER


Location – Houston, TX


Hybird Position


Pay:  $54 - $57 per hour

Pioneer Production Services, Inc. is a supplemental contract labor company founded in 2010 that provides specialized personnel to the oil, gas, and offshore marine industries. The company offers a wide range of services, including production operations, mechanical and electrical work, crane operations, marine rigging, dispatching, and maintenance. Its headquarters are in Lockport, LA, and it operates across North America. 


 


Job Summary


We are seeking a Petroleum Storage Engineer, to support Enbridge’s Engineering and Construction capital projects. The Petroleum Storage Engineer supports the optimization and operational performance of U.S. natural gas storage assets. The portfolio currently manages over 153 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage capacity, generating approximately $200MM in annual revenue.


 


This role acts as a key liaison between field operations, gas control, capacity planning, and commercial services, ensuring efficient storage operations, effective outage coordination, and optimal asset utilization. The position requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills within a fast-paced operational environment where market conditions, weather, and pipeline dynamics continually influence asset performance.


 


Key Responsibilities


Storage Operations Monitoring



  • Monitor the daily performance of natural gas storage assets to evaluate injection, withdrawal, and wheeling capabilities.

  • Analyze operational data and system conditions to support storage optimization decisions.

  • Publish daily injection and withdrawal priorities for Gas Control operations.

  • Evaluate system pressures, nominations, and operational trends to ensure safe and efficient asset utilization.


Commercial & Operational Coordination



  • Serve as an intermediary between field operations, gas control, capacity planning, and commercial services.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with outage coordinators, control room operators, and internal stakeholders.

  • Approve storage transactions and operational decisions within the LINK application system.

  • Implement and communicate customer storage nomination restrictions when operational conditions require.


Outage Planning & Management



  • Provide commercial and operational input for planned maintenance outages.

  • Collaborate with Gas Control, Integrity, Capacity Scheduling, and regional teams to develop detailed outage schedules.

  • Strategize and optimize outage planning to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal customer impact.

  • Clearly communicate outage impacts to commercial teams and identify opportunities to improve outage scheduling.


Data Analysis & Asset Optimization



  • Analyze historical nominations, pressures, and storage field performance to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Support engineering evaluations related to storage field expansion and capacity optimization.

  • Leverage data analytics tools to improve operational visibility and decision-making.


Documentation & Reporting



  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including:

    • Storage operating modes

    • Operating procedures and manuals

    • Training materials and presentations



  • Publish updated customer postings related to storage facility outages and operational conditions.


 


 


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work effectively across operations, engineering, and commercial teams


 


Preferred Qualifications



  • 1–3 years of experience in the natural gas industry

  • 1-3 years of experience working with process flow diagrams (PFDs) and process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)

  • 1-3 years of experience with data analytics tools, such as:

    • Microsoft Power BI

    • Get & Transform / Power Query

    • SQL queries




 


Work Environment


This position operates in a fast-paced, operations-focused environment requiring continuous monitoring of pipeline and storage conditions. The role demands strong communication, prioritization, and analytical skills to manage evolving operational factors such as weather, market conditions, and physical facility constraints.
