About the role
LifeMD Pharmacy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacist to join our growing team in Lancaster, PA. This is an excellent opportunity for new graduates and early-career pharmacists who are passionate about compounding and personalized patient care. Key Responsibilities
Participate in all aspects of commercial pharmacy dispensing, including prospective DUR, PV1 and PV2
Prepare customized non-sterile compounded medications including troches, tablets, creams, ointments, capsules, suspensions, solutions, and other dosage forms in accordance with physician orders and established formulations
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Master Formulation Records (MFRs), and Compounding Records (CRs) to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance
Assist in the creation of new SOPs and Formulations
Ensure full compliance with USP General Chapter <795> standards for non-sterile compounding and USP <800> for hazardous drug handling
Perform and document quality assurance checks including potency, pH, weight variation, and visual inspections on all compounded preparations
Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, chemical compatibility, and stability prior to compounding
Maintain the compounding environment to required standards including proper sanitation, temperature, humidity, and equipment calibration
Provide patient counseling on compounded medications, including proper use, storage, and potential side effects
Collaborate with prescribers to develop and optimize patient-specific formulations when standard commercially available products are not suitable
Maintain accurate and complete documentation including compounding records, inventory records, and beyond-use dating
Stay current with state and federal regulations, Board of Pharmacy requirements, and industry best practices related to compounding
Participate in training programs, continuing education, and professional development opportunities provided by LifeMD Pharmacy
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or Bachelor’s in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited institution
Active Pennsylvania Pharmacist license in good standing (or eligible for licensure prior to start date)
Strong foundational knowledge of pharmaceutics, pharmacology, and pharmaceutical calculations
Ability to stand for extended periods during compounding activities
Manual dexterity to handle compounding equipment, measuring devices, and small quantities of ingredients
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds (ingredient containers, supplies)
Visual acuity for reading prescriptions, measuring volumes, and inspecting compounded preparations
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous compounding experience through rotations, internships, or elective coursework
Familiarity with USP <795> and <800> guidelines
Experience with compounding software and pharmacy management systems
Completion of or enrollment in a compounding certificate program (e.g., APhA, PCCA, or equivalent)
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and patient safety
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with coworkers, healthcare providers and patients
Willingness to learn and grow under the direct guidance of an experienced compounding mentor
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and compliance
