Job Summary


VPI Compounding Pharmacy is looking for an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to oversee daily pharmacy operations, support compliance, lead pharmacy staff, and maintain high standards for quality, safety, and patient care. This role is a great fit for a pharmacist with compounding experience who enjoys leadership, process improvement, regulatory oversight, and supporting a strong pharmacy team.



Key Responsibilities



  • Serve as the designated Pharmacist in Charge and ensure compliance with applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations.

  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations, workflow, prescription review, compounding practices, and dispensing standards.

  • Ensure compliance with Board of Pharmacy, DEA, USP <795>, USP <797>, USP <800>, company SOPs, and internal quality requirements.

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.

  • Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, clinical appropriateness, and legal compliance.

  • Maintain required pharmacy records, licenses, registrations, documentation, and training requirements.

  • Support inventory oversight, including medication, chemical, supply storage, handling, security, and removal of expired or compromised items.

  • Help ensure the pharmacy remains prepared for inspections and audits by keeping records complete, organized, and current.

  • Collaborate with prescribers, pharmacy staff, Quality, Production, and leadership to resolve concerns and improve workflow, safety, and patient care.



Qualifications



  • PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy required.

  • Active Colorado pharmacist license in good standing required.

  • Minimum 3 years of compounding pharmacy experience preferred.

  • Previous Pharmacist in Charge, supervisory, or pharmacy leadership experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy regulations, compounding standards, USP requirements, and quality expectations.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

  • Additional state pharmacist licenses are preferred. Must be willing and eligible to obtain additional state pharmacist licenses as needed.


Physical Demands



  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and work in a pharmacy or compounding environment for extended periods.

  • May require bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, or other physical tasks related to pharmacy operations.
