Pharmacist - Manager

Job Summary

Basecamp Recovery Center is seeking a dedicated and licensed Pharmacy Manager to lead our pharmacy operations in compliance with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy regulations. This position oversees day-to-day functions at our Franklinton location and provides pharmacy support for the Whitehall site. The Pharmacy Manager ensures safe, effective medication practices and leads a team committed to the recovery of individuals with substance use disorders.

Core Responsibilities

• Maintain full compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, including those set by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and FDA.


• Serve as the Responsible Person for the licensed pharmacy and uphold all related requirements.


• Oversee safe dispensing, storage, and tracking of medications, particularly controlled substances used in addiction treatment.


• Provide clinical leadership, guiding medical staff on best practices in pharmacological care and medication-assisted treatment (MAT).


• Ensure accurate, up-to-date documentation and recordkeeping for all prescriptions and controlled substance activities.


• Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and support personnel, to maintain efficient and compliant pharmacy operations.


• Support patient education and counseling on medication regimens, adherence, side effects, and drug interactions.


• Manage pharmacy workflows and support medication services at both Franklinton and Whitehall sites.

Job Duties

• Prepare, compound, package, and dispense medications in accordance with physician orders and therapeutic guidelines.


• Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness.


• Maintain proper inventory control; remove expired or damaged medications and coordinate refills as needed.


• Respond to medication errors, discrepancies, or adverse reactions promptly and appropriately.


• Conduct routine quality assurance checks, including internal audits and inspections.


• Answer medication-related inquiries from staff and patients; provide support during clinical decision-making.


• Train and mentor pharmacy technicians; delegate tasks and monitor for accuracy and compliance.


• Coordinate with providers, insurers, and external pharmacies to resolve issues related to prescriptions or prior authorizations.


• Monitor patient drug therapies and collaborate with providers to adjust regimens as necessary.


• Enforce infection control standards and ensure a clean, secure pharmacy environment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid and unrestricted State of Ohio Pharmacist License.


• Must be eligible to serve as the Responsible Person per Ohio Board of Pharmacy guidelines.


• Current BLS certification (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) required at time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy.


• Experience in addiction medicine, MAT programs, or behavioral health pharmacy.


• Familiarity with ASAM guidelines, OARRS reporting, and outpatient detox protocols.


• Experience managing multi-site pharmacy operations or coordination across facilities.
