As the senior licensed pharmacist on-site, the PIC will supervise all pharmacy operations, manage controlled substance compliance, and partner with the Director of Pharmacy to support large-scale pharmacy fulfillment initiatives. This role is essential in maintaining quality standards and ensuring the success of a high-volume, highly regulated pharmacy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the pharmacy’s designated Pharmacist-in-Charge with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.

  • Ensure full compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, DEA regulations, and DSCSA requirements.

  • Lead regulatory audits and inspections, maintain up-to-date licensure and DEA registration, and oversee all pharmacy records.

  • Develop and maintain SOPs aligned with pharmacy law, cold chain requirements, and Gifthealth’s internal compliance standards.

GLP-1 Program Integration

  • Work directly with the Director of GLP-1 to align pharmacy workflow, staffing, and clinical policies with program objectives.

  • Support initiatives specific to GLP-1 medications, including cold chain handling, titration protocols, and patient adherence strategies.

  • Collaborate on packaging, automation, inventory, and fulfillment models optimized for GLP-1 volume and compliance.

Clinical Oversight & Patient Safety

  • Review prescriptions for accuracy, clinical appropriateness, and legal compliance.

  • Oversee dispensing, counseling protocols, adverse event reporting, and product recalls.

  • Ensure quality assurance and patient safety processes are executed without exception.

Operational Workflow & Leadership

  • Manage day-to-day pharmacy operations, including technician oversight, RPH workflow, and prescription throughput.

  • Ensure proper cold chain storage, controlled substance inventory management, and packaging workflow adherence.

  • Support staffing models and scheduling to ensure coverage and compliance at all times.

  • Implement process improvements in partnership with the General Manager and Director of GLP-1.

Staff Management & Development

  • Supervise pharmacists, interns, and technicians, including training, coaching, and compliance adherence.

  • Maintain a culture of accountability, performance, and patient-first thinking.

  • Support internal audits, training initiatives, and expansion of pharmacy programs under the GLP-1 umbrella.

Required Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted Arizona Pharmacist license (required).

  • Minimum 5 years of pharmacy experience; at least 1 year in a PIC or pharmacy leadership role.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Arizona Board of Pharmacy regulations, DSCSA, DEA compliance, and cold chain management.

  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage cross-functional workflows in a high-volume environment.

  • Experience with pharmacy management systems such as BestRx or equivalent platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GLP-1 medications and associated workflow considerations.

  • Previous experience in a mail-order or fulfillment pharmacy setting.

  • Familiarity with automation, pharmacy KPI tracking, and high-growth environments.

  • Clinical expertise in injectable medications and patient counseling.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary with performance-based bonus eligibility.

  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.

  • Reimbursement for license renewal and continuing education.

  • Opportunity to lead within a mission-driven organization transforming pharmacy access.
