Pharmacy Director

• Manages drug therapy protocols as a part of an interdisciplinary team.
  


• Reviews, interprets, and evaluates medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential or actual drug related problems.
  


• Provides drug information and education to medical staff, healthcare professionals, and patients, and pharmacy students.
  


• Documents interventions and their outcomes for use in drug therapy quality improvement efforts.
  


• Evaluates medication orders for accuracy and completeness prior to order entry. Checks for accuracy after filling by technicians.
  


• Maintains adequate knowledge of pharmacy automated systems and computer software.
  


• Hire, supervise, train, evaluate and administer corrective action for departmental personnel.
  


• Performs administrative activities to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  


• Interprets physician-written drug orders, assigns appropriate administering schedule, and adds/deletes orders to the patient's drug therapy profile accurately.
  


• Assigns schedule for drug administration, when necessary, according to existing medication schedules, frequency/duration requirements, and urgency of therapy implementation.
  

Requirements

• Bachelors degree is required.
  


• PharmD is required.
  

• Active License by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy is required.
  


• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Health Association is required.
