Job Description - Pharmacy Supervisor


License/Certification/Registration:
*Registered pharmacist in the State of Minnesota and in good standing.
*Basic Life Support (BLS) certification current or within 3 months of hire, required

Education:
*Graduate (B.S. or PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited college of Pharmacy.

Experience:
Required:
*3 years of pharmacist experience in a health system or successful completion of an ASHP accredited leadership focused residency program. 

Preferred\: 
PGY2 residency in Pediatrics or related specialty. Board Certification (BPS), preferably Pediatrics, Oncology, or Pharmacotherapy. Previous precepting, residency, or supervisory experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
*Regulatory standards and best practices for pharmacies
*Pharmacy automation systems
*Sterile and non-sterile compounding
*Hazardous drug handling and preparation
*Inventory management
*Parenteral nutrition compounders
*Scheduling
*Pharmacist training

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.

Position Summary

The Pharmacy Supervisor, Clinical provides day-to-day leadership for pediatric clinical pharmacy services, ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based medication management across the organization. This role serves as a clinical practice leader and pediatric pharmacotherapy expert, partnering with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities include overseeing clinical pharmacy operations, supporting adherence to best practices, and advancing medication safety, quality improvement, and regulatory initiatives. The supervisor mentors and develops clinical pharmacists, residents, and students, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. This role also supports the development and standardization of clinical protocols, guidelines, and order sets while monitoring performance metrics and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Additionally, the Pharmacy Supervisor participates in formulary management, medication-use evaluations, patient safety investigations, and interdisciplinary committees. The position contributes to pharmacy residency programs through precepting and learner development while promoting research, innovation, and scholarly activity. The ideal candidate is a collaborative healthcare leader passionate about advancing pediatric pharmacy practice and improving outcomes for children and families.
