Job Description - Pharmacy Supervisor- Mail Center






Overview






Supervises staff and work load in assigned, specialized shop/section of the department to ensure a safe and efficient operation.

 

This is a Full Time, 40hr per week, benefitted position. 

Monday-Friday 8am to 4:30pm

Tuition Reimbursement: Up to $3,000 per year.

Paid Time Off: Time Off is accrued per pay period based on hours worked. This includes six paid holidays.

Responsibilities






  1. Supervises day-to-day activities of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians
  2. Act as pharmacist-in-charge in the absence of pharmacy managers
  3. Pharmacist in Charge: The pharmacist responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the operation of the pharmacy. This includes but is not limited to: managing staff, ensuring compliance to all applicable state and federal guidelines, and maintaining the inventory of all medications.
  4. Helps to hire, train and evaluate Pharmacy Department staff.
  5. Schedules staff and ensures appropriate staff coverage
  6. Assists in the development and administration of departmental policies and procedures
  7. May prepare and dispense medication orders per physician request by interpreting and evaluating medication orders and transcribe to computerized patient medication profiles. Maintain medication profiles.
  8. Ensures safe, appropriate, cost effective medication therapies for Monitors medication therapy by assessment of:
  9. Therapeutic appropriateness of the regimen (e.g. indication for use, drug selection, dosage).
  10. Therapeutic duplication of the
  11. Appropriateness of the route and method of the regimen
  12. Patient compliance with the regimen.
  13. Medication/medication, medication/food, medication/laboratory test, and medication/disease interactions
  14. Clinical and laboratory data to evaluate the efficacy of therapy and to anticipate toxicity and adverse effects.
  15. Physical signs and clinical symptoms relevant to therapy.
  16. Reads, extracts, and interprets information in patient Detects and reports suspected adverse drug reactions.
  17. Sustains the formulary by minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic substitution protocols, P&T committee approved drug use criteria; and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
  18. Provides clinical consultation and clarification to Suggests appropriate, cost-e?ective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff.
  19. Provides accurate, adequate, and timely drug information to the professional staff.
  20. Assists in discharge Counsels patient/families concerning proper drug administration, potential drug side effects and precautions, and discharge medication orders. Helps locate medication supplies not generally available.
  21. Documents all clinical activities and interventions.
  22. Participates in quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department.
  23. Resolves patient complaints and works with staff to ensure excellent customer service.
  24. Performs other duties as required or assigned








Qualifications






  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy 3 years’ experience as a Pharmacist.
  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited school of Pharmacy with 3 years of health care system experience (of which 1 must be pharmacy supervisory experience), or the equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and possess the ability to set priorities and make critical decision.
  • Effective problem solving, and change management abilities desired.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, as well as demonstrated interpersonal and team skills essential.








Required Licensure/Certifications






  • Current unrestricted NH Pharmacist licensure.
  • Board Certification in Specialty Pharmacy (CSP) within 3 years of hire in the Specialty Pharmacy.
  • BLS within 30 days of hire in the Retail or Specialty Pharmacy if required to administer immunizations
