General Summary/Responsibilities:\n\n \n\nSTATUS: PRN - Support\n\nDepartment: Pharmacy\n\nShifts: 700am-330pm 900am-530pm, 100pm-930pm, 300pm-1130pm\n\nFacility: Atrium Medical Center\n\n \n\n \n\nA certified pharmacy technician, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, engage in the following activities to the extent that the activities do not require the exercise of professional judgment:\n\n1\\. Entering information into and retrieving information from a database or patient profile\n\n2\\. Preparing and affixing labels\n\n3\\. Stocking dangerous drugs and retrieving those drugs from inventory\n\n4\\. Counting and pouring dangerous drugs into containers\n\n5\\. Placing dangerous drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist\n\n6\\. Non-sterile drug compounding following the completion of site-specific training\n\n7\\. Sterile drug compounding following the completion of a site-specific training\n\n8\\. Stocking automated drug storage systems, floor stock, and crash carts\n\nEssential Duties \u0026 Functions:\n\n\u00b7 Prepare medication doses prior to a pharmacist\u2019s review \u0026 dispensing\n\n\u00b7 Perform non-sterile and sterile medication compounding after required training\n\n\u00b7 Restock medications in automated dispensing cabinets\n\n\u00b7 Delivery of medications to patient care areas\n\n\u00b7 Monitor drug inventory levels to ensure a continuous supply of medications without stockpiling supplies\n\n\u00b7 Troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, printers, computers and telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy\n\n\u00b7 Must be familiar with pharmacy software\n\n\u00b7 Must use aseptic technique, wear appropriate attire, and follow standards in aseptic compounding\n\n\u00b7 Must maintain a clean and safe working environment\n\nOther Duties \u0026 Functions:\n\n\u00b7 Other duties as assigned\n\nQualification\n\nEducation\n\nMinimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GED\n\nPreferred educational qualifications: Completion of an ASHP/ACPE-accredited technician education and training program\n\nLicensure/Certification/Registration\n\nCertified Pharmacy Technician through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)\n\nRegistration with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a \u201cCertified Pharmacy Technician\u201d or eligible for registration within 45 days of hire.\n\nExperience\n\nMinimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience\n\nPrior job title or occupational experience: N/A\n\nPrior specific functional responsibilities: N/lA\n\nPreferred experience: Prior hospital, long-term care or retail experience preferred\n\nOther experience requirements: N/A\n\nKnowledge/Skills\n\n\u00b7 Possess good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and problem solving skills\n\n\u00b7 Able to read and write printed material in English\n\n\u00b7 Proficiency with computer keyboard operations\n\n\u00b7 Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred\n\n\u00b7 Ability to compute simple algebraic ratios, volume/volume percentage and weight/volume percentage\n\n\u00b7 Ability to troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, printers, computers and telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy. Must be familiar with pharmacy software\n\n\u00b7 Possess ability to work well with other health care workers and perform as team member\n\n\u00b7 Flexibility in scheduling essential as mentor/trainer of new coworkers\n
