Pharmacy Tech II

Miller Pharmacy is open 7 days a week. This position is required to rotate working weekends with other staff. 

Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Sunday: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Pharmacy Technician will assist the pharmacist in the daily functions of the pharmacy department.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED (Required) 
• 1 year of pharmacy experience preferred
• Required Certifications/Licensures: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) within 12 months of hire and Technician Registration with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization.

• Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
• Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
• Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.

GENERAL SKILLS:

• Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Additional languages preferred.
• Strong written and verbal skills.
• Basic Computer Skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
• May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
• May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
• May be required to change from one task to another or different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
• Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
• May be scheduled as needed including overtime.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & DEMANDS:

• Have near normal hearing: Hear alarms/telephone/normal speaking voice.
• Have near normal vision: Clarity of vision (both near and far), ability to distinguish colors.
• ?Have good manual dexterity.
• Have good eye-hand foot coordination.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks/motion.
• Continuously within shift (67-100%): Standing, Walking.
• Frequently within shift (34-66%): Bending/Stooping, Pushing/Pulling, Lift/carry up to 20lbs, Lift/carry greater than 20 lbs. with assistance.
• Occasionally within shift (1-33%): Sitting, Climbing, Twist at waist, Lift/Carry greater than 50 lbs. with assistance, Reaching above shoulder.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

• Responsible for answering phones, window, and doors.
• Assist in pulling out dates from pharmacy.
• Assist in stock replenishment and maintaining inventory.
• Fills prescriptions without errors and without delay. 
• Bills prescriptions to appropriate third parties and charge accounts.
• Receives training of 340B inventory regulations and maintains compliance.
• Filling Rxs/processing/counting/labeling, etc.
• Receive prescriptions/gather and process patient information
• Computer processing/adding patients, doctors, drugs, etc.
• Answering the phone
• Calling Doctor’s office for refills, patient/Rx information –clarification, etc...
• Call insurance company when needed
• Checking in Rx orders for patient/calling on shorts, overages, order errors, outdates, credits, out of stocks etc. (including the out-front orders when necessary)
• File invoices appropriately
• Checking on owes and make sure items have been ordered and received
• Stock Rx dept. daily with supplies/bags/vials, etc...
• Return prescriptions to stock not picked after 30 days, credit insurance company and patient records
• Daily orders for inventory/stock. Inventory control-walking the shelves/straightening/checking for outs and over stock/checking for outdates, etc. promptly.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and business-related information
• Ensure refrigerator temperature/humidity is checked/recorded daily
• Do whatever is deemed necessary for creating a friendly, caring, safe and happy environment/culture for both customer and teammates.
