Pharmacy Technician

RDTS is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to provide services to the inmate population at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) located in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. All duties shall be performed in accordance with standard and methods generally accepted within the field of Dental Assistant Service and compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulation. The contractor (shall adhere to all standards and regulation associated with the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core standards for Adult Local Detention Facilities (ACA)).  The contractor must have the ability to work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. The contractor(s) shall be responsible for but not limited:  

• Services will be unsupervised, but will be monitored by an assigned contract monitor in accordance with Bureau of Prisons policy. The contractor will abide by MDC Guaynabo's infection control policies. 
• The contractor must have knowledge of the current Occupational Safety Hazard Administration (OSHA) guidelines and infection control techniques affecting the practice of Pharmacy. 
• The contractor shall provide the non-personal services of a Pharmacy Technician which shall include the following tasks to prepare Request for Purchase (RP) of pharmaceuticals for Pharmacist's review and approval, and submit the RP to the Health Services Administrator/designee for final approval and fund controlling, Receive pharmaceuticals and supplies into stock from the warehouse and conduct appropriate accounting process, receive and fill prescription orders from Pharmacy stock items, as submitted, Read individual prescriptions and determines kind, strength, and dosage of drug dispensed. 
• Correlation of instructions on the order and Pharmacy policy limitation must be known, Set-up prescriptions by obtaining correct stock containers, counting and placing medications in smaller containers. 
• The Pharmacist checks all contents and label prior to dispensing, process prescriptions manually, or via pharmacy computer, patient profile are reviewed for change in therapy, allergies, drug in­teractions and timeliness of renewals. Any questions and/or changes of problems are referred to the Pharmacist, dose and dispense of medications during scheduled medication lines, print out daily medication profiles for the physicians, assist the Pharmacist in monthly inspections/inventories (i.e. ward, syringe inventory, drug inventories, etc.), enter patient profile (i.e. new inmate arrivals, date of birth, allergies, and corrections as needed), maintain a clean and organized Pharmacy area. 
• The MDC Pharmacy Technician Services shall be required to maintain a system of records on inmates in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 52.224-1, Privacy Act Notification, and 52.224.2, Privacy Act. 
• The contractor will properly store and maintain adequate supplies in Pharmacy. 
• All records maintained by the contractor under this contract will remain the property of the Metropolitan Detention Center.

• Must have graduated from an accredited school or program;
• Be licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the United States or in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico;
• Have appropriate insurance coverage certificate;
• Have a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
