What You Will Do

As the Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for performing technical and clerical duties associated with the preparation, dispensing, shipping and inventory management of medications under the direction of the pharmacist. 

The Opportunity

• Assist the pharmacist in all aspects of pharmacy operations from order entry to shipping.
• Order and inventory control of medications and supplies.
• Responsible for timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
• Perform phone triage: screen, prioritize, route, and document incoming calls.  

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

1. Drug names, strength, dosage forms, generic equivalent and storage requirements.
2. Inventory control procedures and practices.
3. Understanding of laws and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy.

Skills:

1. Working in team environment and with public.
2. Data entry and basic computer usage.
3. Skill in using analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication techniques.

Abilities:

1. Communicate and build relationships with patients, coordinate their care with other disciplines as needed.
2. Build relationships with staff in a user-friendly manner.
3. Perform mathematical calculations to determine prescription amounts.

• Minimum High School Diploma.
• Minimum 2 years of pharmacy technician experience or related experience
• A Valid Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Indiana.
• All IHI employees are expected to enable multi-factor authentication via their personal smartphone or smart device to access IHI systems as a requirement of their role.
