Job Summary: The pharmacy technician is responsible in assisting the pharmacist in providing prescribed pharmaceuticals for designated population. Provides technical support and other activities for the Pharmacy Department as delegated by a pharmacist.
Responsibilities
• Assists the pharmacist to provide prescribed pharmaceuticals for a designated
patient population
• Monitors inventory and and restocks supplies in the assigned department/area
• Performs clerical duties
• Practices within legal, ethical, and professional boundaries
• Participates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes
and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
Required Education: High school diploma or GED
Required Licensure: Valid Mississippi driver's license. Registered Pharmacy Technician or Registered Pharmacy Student in the state of MS. Must be registered within the three months of employment
Required Experience: None
Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Ability to learn medical abbreviations, drug strengths, drug generic and brand names in basic pharmacy operations, including computer systems. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, and Windows
Physical Demands: Visual acuity and finger dexterity are required for record maintenance, typing and use of equipment. Long periods of standing in performance of job
Work Environment: May be exposed to toxic substance such as chemotherapy agents
