Job Summary:

  

The Pharmacy Technician work under the supervision of the licensed pharmacists. They assist the Pharmacist with serving customers and maintaining the Pharmacy department. They help pharmacists dispense prescription medication to customers or health professionals. 

Essential Functions:

  

· Supporting pharmacological services by assembling, stocking and distributing medications

· Maintaining records by recording and filing the prescriptions and orders of Physicians

· Sorting, stocking and labeling medications and monitoring inventory in the clinical departments

· Responding to the requests of patients and healthcare providers, answering their questions, and referring various inquiries to the Pharmacist

· Complying with rules, regulations, and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy, such as by sterilizing equipment and surfaces

· Processing prescriptions electronically and ensuring all information is accurate and complete

· Generating revenues by recording, calculating, and issuing charges

· Undertaking administrative tasks such as record-keeping as assigned by a Physician or facility manager from time to time

Collaboration/Teamwork

  

  • Attends staff meetings; follows HIPAA guidelines; follows patient rights policy; complies with the compliance      program; demonstrates knowledge of role in a disaster; demonstrates      knowledge of fire and fire drill procedures; working knowledge of hospital      emergency codes; always utilizes standard precautions in the clinical  setting; safely manages the environment of care by demonstrating a working knowledge of the requirements of the: Life Safety program, Utilities      Management program, Hazardous Materials program, Emergency Preparedness program, Safety Management program, Medical Equipment Management program, Security Management program. 

Requirements

Experience:

  

  • 8+ months of recent work experience as a Pharmacy      Tech in a Hospital 
  • CPhT certification required 
  • Current TB Screen/Vaccination Record
  • Valid Photo Identification/Driver's License
  • Hospital Setting experience preferred.

Education:

  

  •  High School Diploma or BA from a college or University.

Certifications:

  •  IV Certified
