Location: UC Medical Center Department: Inpatient Pharmacy Hours: Part-Time, 20 Hours/Weekly Shift: Varies UC Health is hiring a Pharmacy Technician Trainee for Inpatient Pharmacy at the University of Cincinnati's Medical Center. Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technician trainees work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed by only a registered pharmacist. Education: High school diploma is the minimum required. College courses are desirable but not required. License and Certification: Current pharmacy technician registration by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. Must obtain a certified technician certificate within one year of hire. All technicians must maintain registration and certification throughout their employment with the UC Health Pharmacy Department. Experience: No experience required. One to two years equivalent experience preferred. Required Skills and Knowledge: Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods; work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff; handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule; set priorities and solve problems; respond quickly to emergency requests; communicate effectively (orally and in writing) and assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of the patient populations served by the organization.
