Job Description - Philanthropy Developer





Description

foundry10 is an education research organization with a philanthropic focus on expanding ideas about learning and creating direct value for youth. We offer competitive salaries, benefits, and vacation time. Full-time employment at foundry10 is a four-day work week. This is not a remote position. Candidates must live in Washington State and be able to work in person in the greater Seattle area as needed. We are not able to sponsor visa applications, and to be considered for this position, you must be eligible to work in the United States. To protect our staff, partners, and the youth we serve, we require all foundry10 employees to adhere to our masking and COVID testing policies when working in person.

Summary of Role

Philanthropy Developers at foundry10 lead exploratory and evaluative education philanthropy work. They identify gaps and needs among youth, educators, and community partners and then design, implement, and assess philanthropic projects that aim to bridge those gaps. Developers are embedded within the Philanthropy Pillar and contribute to Interest Area (IA) Teams that align with their background or focus areas.

This role involves collaboration across interest areas or the Philanthropy Pillar, with autonomy to scope and lead individual projects. The Philanthropy Developer builds partnerships with educators, schools, youth-serving organizations, and youth themselves, cultivating relationships that are responsive, sustainable, and high-impact. Travel to partner sites may be required.

This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $79,950 – $133,250 per year and reports to the Director of Community and Philanthropic Relationships.

Responsibilities

Partner Cultivation & Relationship Management

  • Identify and build relationships with prospective partners aligned with foundry10’s mission and philanthropic focus areas.
  • Provide support and leadership to Interest Area Teams to maximize impact through strategic giving.
  • Engage in ongoing stewardship through meetings, communication, and site visits.
  • Maintain and update partner, project, and pillar data using CRM tools.
  • Foster partner relationships with an eye toward long-term sustainability and shared learning.

Project Management

  • Initiate and scope new philanthropic projects in collaboration with external partners.
  • Evaluate incoming funding proposals for alignment with team goals and organizational strategy.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of philanthropy projects—from brainstorming through reflection and reporting.
  • Regularly update CRM systems and coordinate partnership updates for internal tracking.
  • Draft and coordinate MOUs, contracts, and other documentation in collaboration with legal and leadership teams.

Funding Strategy & Planning

  • Design and implement philanthropic projects that reflect both partner needs and strategic priorities.
  • Collect and analyze data to inform funding strategies and ensure access and impact across communities.
  • Adapt project plans based on real-time feedback and evaluation.
  • Identify opportunities for collaborative funding with other organizations when aligned.

Communication & Impact Reporting

  • Work with the Communications Team to create engaging stories, updates, and reports that reflect partner outcomes and organizational learning.
  • Track and analyze both project outputs and long-term outcomes.
  • Share insights and impact data internally and externally to promote learning and transparency.

Expertise Areas 

While all Philanthropy Developers share the same core responsibilities, we are actively hiring for team members with experience or interest in the following areas:

Technology, Media, and Information Literacy (TMIL) - We are seeking a Developer who brings experience or deep interest in:

  • Digital tools in learning environments (e.g., classroom tech, out-of-school digital learning)
  • Healthy and responsible digital habits for youth
  • Technical skill development and equitable pathways to careers in digital technology

An ideal background may include:

School or District Technology Coaches, Library or Media specialists, STEM educators, CTE educators, or experience with tech access equity work.

Health and Well-being (HW) - We are seeking a Developer who brings experience or deep interest in:

  • Physical health and movement-based learning
  • Social-emotional learning supports
  • School-based health and wellness programs

An ideal background may include:

School-based mental health practitioners, occupational or physical therapists, PE teachers, athletic directors, or those with experience in community wellness initiatives.


Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in philanthropy, education, non-profit, or related field
  • 2+ years of project management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate collaborative partnerships
  • Experience working across teams in a matrixed or cross-functional structure
  • Strong data analysis and strategic planning skills
  • Comfortable using project management tools (e.g., Monday.com), CRM systems, Google Suite, and communication platforms like Slack and Zoom

Preferred requirements

  • Experience promoting education or technology access
  • Understanding of school and community systems; ability to remain solutions-oriented and grounded in real-world constraints
  • Specialized experience aligned with either TMIL or HW focus areas
