Families in Transition is currently looking for a Philanthropy Officer to join our team! The Philanthropy Officer is responsible for structuring, implementing, and monitoring a highly effective development & donor services program working closely with the Director of Development, President/CEO, and key staff to support and embrace the mission and goals of Families in Transition. The Philanthropy Officer identifies, engages, cultivates, solicits, and stewards current and prospective donors in expanding their financial support of Families in Transition. They are responsible for meeting an annual revenue target by working with an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects to advance the mission of the organization and assist donors in creating meaning in their lives through giving to Families in Transition. In conjunction with the Director of Development, they may implement fundraising strategies, as well as implementing development plans. This is an ideal position for someone who is committed to building strong and trusting relationships, goal-oriented, and enjoys working collaboratively on a team. This individual would join a Resource Development team which includes other Philanthropy Officers, a Marketing Manager, a Database Administrator, and Volunteer Services manager. Essential Functions:
Develops and executes ongoing strategy for donors to ensure retention, growth of donor contributions as well as recapture from previous donors. Works collaboratively with other departments and resource development staff to create customized solicitation strategies matching the objectives of the organization and interests of the donor/prospect.
Manages an assigned portfolio of institutional donors and prospects with the intent to form deep relationships. Responsible for minimum annual fundraising goal tied to a segmented portfolio, including both renewable gifts and new incremental revenue. Develop donor management plans for the entire portfolio resulting in strategic, knowledgeable, and complex asks. Personally, solicits assigned donor portfolios through face-to-face visits, including preparation of personalized materials.
Implements programs/activities to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at the $1,000 level or higher, with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for Families in Transition. Works with community, Board Members, and other senior leadership to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward appropriate institutional and individual donors. Identifies potential planned giving prospects among assigned donors to solicit those prospects. Update donor records in Salesforce following donor contacts.
Develops ongoing relationships with major donors for the benefits of Families in Transition. In particular, the Philanthropy Officer will:
Cultivate, solicit, and steward support from donors to meet annual fundraising goals.
Craft compelling narratives and cases for support for required proposal and report submissions. Based on research and trends, develop strategies for donors' engagement that demonstrate mission alignment and desired impact. In partnership with the Director of Development, write and submit proposals and reports that demonstrate how donor goals can be realized through support of Families in Transition
Works with other Resource Development team members to actively drive toward annual targets and goals by sharing information, developing strategies, and executing on plans. Supports department level priorities focused on direct mail, marketing and communications, one-time giving events, (i.e., Giving Tuesday, NH Gives Day), and other events and initiatives (Walk Against Hunger, Annual Breakfast).

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of three years of experience sales and/or fundraising experience required.
Proven experience in developing strategies for donor retention growth and recapture and proven success with complex requests is required. Progressive experience in successful development programs and knowledge of “best practices” in development.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity and experience with Salesforce CRM is highly preferred.
