Reports to: Director of Individual Giving

Base Of Designation: Washington, D.C.

Work Location: Hybrid/ Remote-eligible (within US)

Grade: 1-DC

Salary: $23.08-$24.03/hourly. Full-time. Pay is commensurate with experience and dependent on base of designation.

A core member of the Philanthropy Team, the Philanthropy Operations Associate at World Learning/SIT, will be responsible for supporting the senior members of the Philanthropy team to include the Associate Vice President, the Director of Individual Giving and the Director of Corporate and Foundation Philanthropy. This position will be responsible for providing support to the philanthropy team with a focus on donor stewardship, prospect research, donor qualification, and day-to-day team operations and organization. The Associate will be responsible for owning the day-to-day administration of the Philanthropy team to include mailings, reporting, database management and cleanup, as well as records management. This role reports to the Director of Individual Giving.


Responsibilities:

  • Work with philanthropy team to increase donor retention and acquisition and help manage this through reporting and task assigning in Salesforce.
  • Support the Associate VP in their work with the Advancement Committee through scheduling meetings, keeping minutes, keeping the online Board portal up to date, etc.
  • Work with Associate Vice President of Philanthropy, Director of Individual Giving and Director of Corporate and Foundation Philanthropy to create schedules, assist with appeal content, and distribute annual endowment reports.
  • Prepare event and donor bios and pre-meeting briefings on major donors and prospects.
  • Fulfill prospect research requests by utilizing donor research software and analyzing financial information, news articles, and other sources to identify and qualify donor prospects for the Philanthropy team.
  • Work with philanthropy team to schedule donor meetings.
  • Make donor phone calls, send giving history reports and stewardship reports as needed.
  • Write proposals and donor gift requests.
  • Support Philanthropy Assistant with the Philanthropy info email inbox and provide timely and professional responses to donor questions and concerns.
  • Manage the Philanthropy team calendar and any associated tasks related to the calendar.
  • Assist with sending stewardship gifts, handwritten donor thank-you cards, and various mailed reports.
  • Provide drafting, editing and administrative support for departmental projects and grant applications.
  • Create donor reports for team members on a weekly and as-needed basis and manage a series of reports in Salesforce.
  • Keep Philanthropy procedures updated and aligned with fundraising best practices.
  • Manage accounts and opportunity records in the Salesforce CRM system.
  • Develop and update concept note statements for prospect outreach to maintain a database of possible pitches.
  • Support Philanthropy Assistant with gift and data entry procedure manual.
  • Provide general administrative support for the department.
  • Support knowledge sharing, information, learning and collaboration among the members of the Philanthropy team.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

  • Ability and experience researching information and writing briefs on discovered information.

  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and database reporting preferred.


Vaccination is strongly recommended for all employees in our U.S. offices except for those receiving medical or religious exemptions. If boosters are subsequently recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) then employees and faculty will be recommended to receive the booster within thirty (30) days of their eligibility.
