Job Description - Philanthropy Specialist

Job Description:

At Intermountain Health, you’ll help turn generosity into meaningful impact. As a Philanthropy Specialist, you support mission-driven fundraising efforts that advance care for our patients and communities.

In this role, you partner with Foundation Executive Directors, Directors of Development, and Gift Officers to ensure fundraising activities are well-coordinated, strategic, and successful. You serve as a key liaison, managing complex administrative and operational work that prepares teams for effective donor engagement and high-impact solicitations.

Your contributions help create a seamless fundraising environment and play an important role in securing philanthropic support that strengthens Intermountain Health’s mission.

This role will work Monday-Friday, during regular business hours.

Essential Job Duties

  • Plan and execute logistics for meetings, trainings, site visits, and events supporting Principal, Major, Associate, and Planned Giving programs (including agenda development, materials preparation, catering coordination, and meeting facilitation support)
  • Coordinate conference calls, document meeting notes, and manage follow-up actions to ensure alignment and accountability
  • Support Foundation leadership in preparing for Philanthropy Board meetings and key initiatives
  • Manage facility-related Release of Funds processes, including communication of fund balances, reimbursement standards, and documentation requirements
  • Participate in quarterly finance meetings and process fund transfer requests accurately and timely
  • Maintain data integrity by partnering with Gift Processing and Data Entry teams and managing donor records in Raiser's Edge
  • Generate reports and queries to support fundraising strategy and operational needs
  • Provide calendar management and administrative support to Foundation leadership, including donor meeting coordination
  • Support Continuous Improvement efforts, including maintaining huddle boards and contributing to idea generation and implementation
  • Manage expense reports, reimbursements, and prepare deposits in accordance with Intermountain’s cash handling policies
  • Review daily gift reports to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance fundraising and operational expertise
  • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality standards, protecting donor, patient, and financial information
  • Consistently deliver excellent customer service while supporting organizational goals and stakeholder needs
  • Handle sensitive situations with professionalism and escalate concerns appropriately when needed
  • Manage office supply inventory to ensure operational readiness
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or two years of experience in fundraising, event planning, prospect research, stewardship and/or donor recognition, annual fund activities, presentations and public speaking, and working effectively with board members, civic and business leaders, and other constituencies.
  • Demonstrated strong and written and verbal communications skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including relationship building and communication in-person, over the phone, and via email with diverse groups of people (e.g. volunteers, board members, hospital staff, and others).
  • Strong project organizational skills, demonstrated orientation to details, timeliness, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Demonstrated strong analytic and creative skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision while balancing the need to provide key information and updates to leadership.
  • Experience using word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, database, internet, email and scheduling applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information.
  • Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • See and read computer monitors and documents.
  • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

Preferred Requirements

  • Fundraising experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Functional working experience with Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge.
  • Experience supporting Major Gift activities and/or office operations.
  • Experience working in a complex matrix organization.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
