Key Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages
• Verify patient identity and test orders prior to specimen collection
• Label, process, and prepare specimens for transport according to protocol
• Maintain infection control and safety standards at all times
• Document procedures accurately in the laboratory or electronic medical record system
• Communicate professionally with patients, nurses, and laboratory staff
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and work areas in a clean and organized manner
• Adhere to HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements

Requirements:

• California Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT I or CPT II)
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy program
• Current BLS/CPR
• Prior clinical or hospital experience preferred
