Job Summary

Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital is a burgeoning rehabilitation system with 31 hospital partners across the state of Michigan.  The flagship hospital is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan with 187 acute and subacute beds.  Our comprehensive services and exclusive focus on rehabilitation has resulted in superb clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction scores. Mary Free Bed is rated in the top 10 rehabilitation hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.

Mary Free Bed Medical Group has been retained by Valley Health to recruit a full-time experienced, dynamic individual with strong leadership skills to provide Physiatry Services for Winchester Rehabilitation Center located in the Shenandoah Valley and the ‘Top of Virginia”

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of license, certification, or registration and as required by Federal and State laws and regulations.

  • Provides professional medical services in the specialty of physiatry to patients of Winchester Rehabilitation Center in the following areas:

  • Inpatients

  • Timely consultations at referring hospitals and facilities

  • adequate credentials and procedural guidelines including staff education are established.

  • Maintains medical records in a timely fashion and cooperates with billing, peer review and compliance programs

  • Provides oversight and education for students, residents, and any mid-level providers

  • Maintains staff privileges at Valley Health, and mutually agreed upon other hospitals, including the duties required to maintain those privileges such as medical record completion, committee service, compliance, citizenship, etc.

  • Identifies and promotes opportunities for improvement of care and actively participates in Valley Health quality initiatives

  • Monitors developments in specialty field and promotes new programs that meet new program criteria

  • Provides medical leadership to treatment team treating assigned patients and promotes harmonious and effective team functioning

  • Models professional behavior

  • Enhances knowledge and understanding of capabilities and services among medical professionals and patient populations through regular participation in professional education sessions with network partners, discharge planning conferences at regional acute care hospitals, participation in ICU and other Rehab teams at network and regional acute care hospitals and similar activities, community outreach and programming opportunities presented or promoted by the Hospital.

  • Promotes the financial viability of Winchester Rehabilitation Center.

  • Promotes the development and dissemination of new knowledge, preferably in peer reviewed journals

For the past 18 years, Winchester Rehabilitation Center has built an excellent reputation in the region, serving a population exceeding 500,000 residents. As part of a six-hospital health system, they offer a broad spectrum of diagnostic, medical, surgical and rehabilitative services and a built-in referral system. 

About Winchester Rehabilitation Center:

  • Winchester Rehabilitation Center (WRC) has over 650 rehabilitation admissions per year.

  • Opportunity to work with experienced Physiatrist in a busy 30-bed JCAHO accredited Rehabilitation Center.

  • WRC is part of Winchester Medical Center, a 495-bed acute care hospital within 1 mile of the Rehabilitation Center.

  • The Physiatrist provide both inpatient and outpatient services. Call and weekend coverage , and Daily IP census is 18.

Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree

  • Board Certified or Board eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

  • State of Virginia Medical License
