Summary: Assists physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures. May, in accordance with state laws, assist the development of treatment plans, carryoutroutinefunctions, documenttheprogressoftreatment,andmodifyspecifictreatments in accordance with patient status and within the scope of treatment plans established by a physical therapist by performing the following duties.
Instructs, motivates, safeguards, and assists patients as they practice exercises and functional activities.
Conferswith physicaltherapystafforotherstodiscussand evaluate patientinformation for planning, modifying, and coordinating
Administers activeand passive manualtherapeuticexercises, therapeuticmassage,and heat, light, sound, water, anodyne, and electrical modality treatments, such as ultrasound,electricalstimulation,lontophoresis,assistivedevices,bodymechanics, paraffin, and joint
Observes patients during treatments to compile and evaluate data on patients' responses and progress, to report to physical
Measurespatients'range-of-jointmotion,bodyparts,andvitalsignstodetermineeffects of treatment for the patient's evaluations and then re-evaluates to include overall re assessment and manual muscle testing.
Securespatientsintoorontotherapy equipment.
Fits patients for orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as
Assists patients to dress, undress, or put on and remove supportive devices, such as braces, splints, and slings.
Administers traction to relieve neck and back pain, using intermittent and static traction
Performs clinical duties, such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms.
Completes SOAP notes and place any findings for re-evaluations in physical therapists in
Orders supplies for clinic and to retail for home
Instructs and supervises aids in how best to assist
Maintains current
Participates in continuing education as
Maintains and improves professionalism and knowledge through continuing
Performs other related duties as
Requirements:
Associate's degree (A. A. I S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and staff.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Previous experience as a Rehab Aide is highly desirable.
Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills
CPR Certification (Preferred)
