Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Physician Assistant (PA) to provide high-quality, patient-focused care in Urgent Care and Emergency Care settings in Folsom and Roseville, California.
The Senior PA will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients; develop treatment plans; perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams; and provide clinical mentorship to less experienced Physician Assistants.
Depending on departmental needs, the position may also support hospital, emergency department, outpatient, or perioperative settings and may include surgical first assisting, inpatient rounding, on-call responsibilities, and department-specific procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients independently within scope of practice.
Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, ECGs, and other diagnostic studies.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Perform procedures including suturing, wound care, injections, immunizations, and IV placement.
Assist physicians with medical and surgical procedures and serve as First Assist when required.
Perform inpatient rounding, admissions, transfers, and discharges as applicable.
Monitor patient progress, vital signs, laboratory results, and diagnostic findings.
Provide patient and family education regarding treatment, medications, follow-up, and preventive care.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Communicate abnormal findings and changes in patient condition to physicians.
Participate in quality improvement and performance initiatives.
Mentor and support less experienced Physician Assistants.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, managers, and other healthcare professionals.
Participate in varying schedules, including evenings and weekends, as required.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
Minimum 3 years of Physician Assistant experience within the last 5 years.
Demonstrated ability to independently evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients.
Active California Physician Assistant License required at hire.
NCCPA certification required at hire.
NPI required at hire.
Current BLS certification required.
Demonstrated competency in clinical procedures relevant to the assigned department.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based healthcare environment.
Availability to work varying schedules, including evenings and weekends.
