Job Description - Physician Assistant - Orthopedic Specialty

Description

Barrington Orthopedic Specialists is looking for a full-time Physician Assistant to join our team! 

Barrington Orthopedic Specialists was established in 1980 with a philosophy of treating patients as you would want to be treated. The practice has remained as the premier orthopedic provider of the northwest Chicago suburbs, providing compassionate, individualized care for patients' bones, joints, and muscle injuries and conditions.  

Full-Time: 40 hours per week

  • Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
  • Schaumburg, Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove Village, Bartlett

The ideal candidate would be a Physician Assistant with orthopedic upper extremity experience ( but not required ) You must be able to function independently within the scope of your license. You need to be self-motivated and willing to work as part of a team performing walk-in-care services. 

Daytime Physician and PA sub-specialty resources available during working hours. 

  

Summary

Responsible for assisting the physicians in providing quality patient care. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform office evaluation of new patients/new conditions and determine treatment plans in conjunction with the attending physician.
  • Perform follow-up care ( follow up, post op ) for previous patients of the practice. 
  • Perform pre-operative education and routine post-operative care, including suture removal. 
  • Perform wound care, cast changes, splinting, minor injections, diagnostic images. 
  • Assist in surgery at the Hospital and Surgery Center.
  • Prescribe mediations including, controlled substances.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic testing and review and interpret results of tests in conjunctions of attending physician.
  • Perform documentation and billing for all visits that algins our policy and procedures and standard billing policies
  • Participate in rounds and call rotation at hospitals.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Controlled Substance License and DEA Number REQUIRED
  • Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • 1-2 years of Orthopedic experience REQUIRED
  • Previous experience in hand-to-shoulder orthopedics PREFERRED
  • Ability to work as an independent physician assistant clinic 
  • Experience with Athena E.H.R. preferred
