REQUIRED PROCEDURES

Cauterizing wounds and vessels
Packing sponges in body
Positioning patient to maintain circulation and access for surgeon
Placing clamps and sutures
Closing skin with adhesives, sutures, or staples
Applying direct pressure on veins and tissue
Performing or aiding in patient suction, drainage, and irrigation
Hemostasis: stopping of excess bleeding and blood flow
Immobilizing patients on the operating table

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Licenses: Active New York License
Board: Board Certified (Physician Assistant)
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATLS (AHA)
Experience: Minimum 2 years recent experience in surgery
Other Qualifications: Epic experience required; No residents or fellows accepted

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide comprehensive care to hospitalized patients as a Physician Assistant in General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedics.
Serve as Surgical First Assist in the Operating Room, including cauterizing, suturing, positioning, and hemostasis.
Perform Medical Surgical Floor coverage including rounding, progress notes, order management, discharges, and consults.
Participate in on-call coverage including weeknight and weekend shifts.
Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia, and nursing staff to ensure patient safety and quality care.
