Physician Medical Director

Description

We are seeking a Physician Medical Director to lead clinical care delivery at a busy outpatient medical center. This role combines hands-on clinical practice with administrative leadership to ensure high-quality care, operational efficiency, and an excellent patient experience. As Medical Director, you will serve as the clinical leader and mentor for a multidisciplinary team focused on occupational medicine, urgent care, and injury management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care with a focus on occupational health, urgent care, and work-related injuries
   
• Lead and mentor physicians, advanced practice clinicians, therapists, and support staff
   
• Oversee clinical operations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and quality standards
   
• Conduct peer reviews, clinical audits, and performance evaluations to uphold clinical excellence
   
• Collaborate with center operations leadership to improve workflows, patient access, and care outcomes
   
• Work closely with employers and case managers to develop return-to-work and care coordination plans
   
• Serve as a subject matter expert in occupational medicine and lead staff education and training initiatives
   
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, DOT, HIPAA, etc.)
   
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, and patient-centered care
   

Requirements:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
   
• Board Certification
   
• Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of practice
   
• Current DEA registration and BLS certification
   
• Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical experience, ideally in occupational medicine or urgent care
   
• Previous experience in a leadership or medical director role is highly preferred
   
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
   
• Proficiency with EMR systems and performance tracking tools
   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Medical Review Officer (MRO) and DOT Medical Examiner preferred
   
• Experience with workers’ compensation and employer-based health programs
   
• Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA) or related leadership training a plus
