The Pipe Layer is responsible for laying pipe for underground hydrants, sewers, drains. This positions will perform any combination of tasks which include grade trenches or culverts, position pipe, or seal joints.  

Responsibilities 

Cut pipes to required lengths

Install and repair sanitary/stormwater sewer systems 

Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing

Dig and grade trenches

Use lasers, grade rods, and levels for pipe alignment

Connect and seal pipe joints

Read blueprints and follow layout plans

Identify underground utilities and ensure safety around them

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

2+ year of construction pipe laying or laborer experience required

General knowledgeable of OSHA standards and requirements

Able to work outside in all weather conditions

Willingness to learn and accept direction from field supervision 

Excellent judgement and analysis skills

Does not take short cuts, work effectively and efficiently while performing all aspects of the required job

Organized, systematic and adherent to deadlines

Unafraid to get dirty

Able to carry and move tools and equipment up to 50-70 lbs 

Ability to read blueprints

Basic understanding of construction workflow
