Planning Technician

HIRING RANGE: $26.37 - $29.67 per hour
 

About the Position:

Join the City’s Community Development Department and be part of a team dedicated to thoughtful, forward-looking planning that helps create a vibrant and thriving community. This position performs a variety of technical and administrative duties in support of the City’s planning and development programs, working closely with professional planning staff, residents, property owners, developers, and other customers.  This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented, service-focused professional interested in municipal planning and contributing to the development of the community.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Respond to questions and provide information to the public over the phone and at the counter.

  • Process, coordinate or assist with review of zoning requests, development proposals and applications.

  • Process and issue a variety of permits including fence, home occupation, and sign permits.

  • Process subdivision plat recordation.

  • Provide technical support to planning staff.

  • Research, collect, compile, record and summarize technical, statistical, and demographic data.

  • Prepare reports and studies as directed.

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and delivery of public and legal notices to the City Clerk, property owners, and others as required and directed.

  • Process reports and public hearing documents for review agencies, City staff, Planning Commission, Board of Appeals, Historic Preservation Board, and City Council.

  • Perform a variety of general clerical duties in support of the Planning Division.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

  • One year of urban planning and zoning technical support experience.

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.

Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
