Position Summary The Plant Controller is responsible for leading all financial operations at a manufacturing facility, partnering closely with plant leadership to drive performance, accountability, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role oversees the accounting function and serves as a key business partner in both operational and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all plant-level financial activities, including cost accounting, general ledger, product costing, and operational analysis
Analyze financial performance, including cost variances, labor efficiency, and operational metrics
Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, forecasts, and insights to support decision-making
Develop, manage, and continuously improve budgeting and forecasting processes
Oversee accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets
Ensure integrity and effectiveness of financial systems, controls, and reporting tools
Prepare ad hoc financial analyses, reports, and business case evaluations
Supervise and develop accounting staff to ensure strong performance and professional growth
Partner with plant leadership on capacity planning, cost improvement initiatives, and operational efficiencies
Support continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional programs
Maintain audit readiness and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements
Coordinate year-end audit activities and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and regulatory agencies
Leadership Responsibilities
Provide direction and oversight to the accounting team
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Act as a key member of the plant leadership team
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
Minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience with cost accounting and financial analysis in an industrial setting strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to interpret and communicate complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and presentations
Proficiency in financial systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Performance Expectations
Timely and accurate monthly financial reporting and forecasting
Annual budget development and execution
Ongoing financial analysis to support operational performance
Team leadership, development, and performance management

Local candidate strongly preferred but will consider relocating a strong candidate(renter needing a few thousand dollars to move contents of home) makes the most sense
Tier 1 or 2 automotive supplier expeience preferred but would consider any large/fast-paced/high volume manufacturing industry experience.
