Plant Doctor

Position is the face of Moana Nursery’s Green Industry expertise, the leading horticultural expert at the store and a primary salesperson that will give customers both what they want and what they need. The position requires significant horticultural expertise, customer service focus, and the ability to sell customers both what they want as well as what they need (to be successful). Plant Doctors are expected to provide additional revenue through on site and in-store consultations as well as share their expertise through seminars, workshops and teammate training. Their product feedback and opinions on what makes it easy to garden in NV is required. As senior store teammates position is expected to support store team with basic store operations such as opening or closing, cashier, merchandising, inventory and receiving.

Your Specific Job Responsibilities:

• Upholds Moana Nursery's strict safety policies
• Promptly responds to customer needs, requests for service or assistance
• Helps train the retail team and customers
• Provides social media content
• Answers questions concerning price, sales, services and programs
• Provides outstanding customer service
• Horticulture Diagnosis-Identifies plant and insect issues for customers
• On Site and Instore consultations
• Identifies issues and opportunities that require Moana Nursery to change
• Supports day to day operations of retail store
• Manages/Communicates with customers/contractors/merchants on special orders
• Thanks our customers each and every time the visit!

Physical Requirements & Activity:

• Applicant must be able to lift 25 lbs
• Applicant must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Applicant must be able to work outdoors for an extended period of time.

Expertise & Experience Requirements:

• High School or equivalent degree
• Customer Service Role
• Horticulture expertise- Arborist Certified
• Product Knowledge
• Good driving record

Nice To Have Skills or Experiences:

• Retail Management Experience
• Experience with EPICOR Eagle

Your Future Work Schedule:

Our retail stores are open 7 days a week and we are busiest on the weekend. We are looking for teammates that can work weekends and be flexible to accommodate the changing retail environment. Please make sure you list your availability on the application.

Requirements

Must become a certified arborist within give timeline. To earn an ISA Certified Arborist® credential, you must be trained and knowledgeable in all aspects of arboriculture. ISA Certified Arborist® have met all requirements to be eligible for the exam, which includes three or more years of full-time, eligible, practical work experience in arboriculture and/or a degree in the field of arboriculture, horticulture, landscape architecture, or forestry from a regionally accredited educational institute. This certification covers a large number of topics giving the candidates flexibility in the arboricultural profession. A code of ethics for ISA Certified Arborists® strengthens the credibility and reliability of the work force. This certification is accredited by the American National Standards Institute, meeting and exceeding ISO 17024.
