Job Description - Plant Electrician

Twin Rivers Paper Company, headquartered in Madawaska, Maine, is an integrated specialty paper manufacturer producing 400,000 tons of paper per year for the packaging, publishing, label, and technical sectors. RESPONSIBILITIES:  



  • Assists in the establishment of preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and facilities.

  • Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic components, hydraulic components, conveyor systems, production machines and equipment.

  • Performs general electrical work, i.e., conduit, wire sizing, pulling wire and constructions.

  • May perform a variety of electrical/mechanical tests to determine exact cause of issue;

  • Performs necessary maintenance to the equipment and machinery to repair or replace the defective parts

  • Plan, layout, install and repair a wide variety of complex electrical equipment including automatic machine and process controls, control centers and panels, relays, circuit breakers, electronic controls, tape actuated controls and other equipment involving tube or transistor circuits.

  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, detect and replace defective control modules, test and make adjustments.

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines and plant facilities including air compressors, nitrogen lines, and lighting systems.

  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and materials handling equipment in performing duties.

  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report these and any unusual situations to proper supervision.

  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

  • Develops or assists the development of plant tag-out/lock-out documentation.

  • All other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.



    REQUIREMENTS:



    • AAS degree in electrical engineering and/or a High School graduate with 3-5 years progressively responsible experience in electronic instrumentation.

    • Plant Maintenance Electrician acquired through NYS is a plus

    • PLC’s, motor controls and VFD’s is a plus.

    •  Ability to use basic hand and power tools.

    • Ability to use electronic test equipment.

    • Work in confined area(s)

    • Ability to use Traverse to modify, create and schedule E&I work orders

    • Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.

    • Basic computer, math and reading skills.

    • Ability to assist in troubleshooting and/or taking corrective repair actions.

    • Incumbent will possess good verbal and written skills.

    • Ability to switch job priorities as required in order to meet production requirements.


     


    $26.92 - $33.58/hour depending on current certification/experience.   Employer sponsored Apprentice Program.
