Job Description - Plant Human Resources Manager

About our Client 
Leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality water and gas flow control products, plumbing service and repair parts, and drain cleaning and plumbing hand tools for the new construction and repair/remodel markets. Headquartered in Novi, Michigan, they support a wide array of channel partners including wholesalers, retailers and specialty dealers, who serve residential and commercial markets across the Americas. They have set the plumbing standard for 70 years, with industry leading brands 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Plant Human Resources Manager partners with the Plant Manager and leadership team to develop and implement HR strategy and initiatives that support the plant in delivering on their business commitments. Leveraging their knowledge of the business and their respective functions, incumbents play a critical role in setting the Plant’s HR strategy and priorities. The position is accountable for executing the talent strategy within their respective plant, with a focus on talent acquisition, employee relations, leadership, performance development, workforce planning, compensation, and HR administration. Reporting to the HR Director, Operations and People Services, the incumbent will partner with other members of the HR function to ensure the location is aligned both strategically and functionally.

 
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as key partner to leaders of the Plant, driving the plant people strategy
  • Partner with leaders to design and create the organization that will deliver business success; proactively challenging the established organizational design to drive superior performance.
  • Work with the plant leadership team to define the organizational and people related development needs, design and facilitate solutions.
  • Serve as a company-wide HR Lead for specific components of the Talent Strategy
  • Identify operational weaknesses and help improve or innovate people programs and processes to keep them as effective and efficient as possible (i.e., Org design, talent strategies, talent acquisition, etc)
  • Develop and execute a resourcing and talent strategy for plants that ensures we have the right people in the right place at the right time.
  • Interpret data and generate insights for strategic talent priorities
  • Anticipate and respond to changing business needs and influence lasting change in plant by serving as a change advocate.
    Facilitates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees, compliance, and general information.
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • In collaboration with the TA Manager, manages the talent acquisition process for the plant, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, and maintaining records
  • Assists with developing data-driven reporting for decision-making to foster business transformation
  • Assists in recruiting efforts for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, interns and temporary employees; Conducts new-employee orientation.

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources or equivalent experience in Human Resources
  • Minimum years of 7 years broad HR functional experience in an industrial environment and manufacturing
  • Minimum of 4 years of human resource management experience
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in administering Collective Bargaining Agreements (Corona only)
  • Minimum of 3 years in a Leadership role
  • Experience acting as a key partner to leaders of the Plant, driving the plant people strategy

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HR certification such as PHR, SPHR or GPHR

  • Experience in supporting Manufacturing environment
