Plant Maintenance Manager - Meat Industry

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of plant equipment, production processes, grounds, and building infrastructure. This role ensures operational efficiency, compliance with safety regulations, and optimal performance of all mechanical and electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably in the meat industry, and a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimize plant layouts to support operational improvements and process changes.
• Plan and oversee plant expansions, modifications, and capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and OSHA requirements.
• Provide Engineering Department personnel with tools, training, and resources to maintain facility operations effectively.
• Manage capital and expense budget projects for maintenance initiatives.
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure timely project completion.
• Address operational issues proactively and communicate effectively with senior management.
• Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports to foster collaboration with other departments.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate's degree or equivalent experience in electrical or mechanical fields.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of management experience in manufacturing; meat industry experience preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: State Mechanical Contractors License required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Basic understanding of refrigeration principles and applications.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with CAD and PLC systems preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, and a self-starter mentality.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to work in environments ranging from -40F to 110F.
• Exposure to noisy manufacturing areas requires PPE such as safety glasses and hearing protection.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk on level surfaces as needed; reaching above shoulder height or below waist may be required.
