Key Responsibilities


 



  • Lead all plant operations to achieve safety, quality, production, and financial objectives.

  • Drive a strong safety culture through visible leadership and accountability.

  • Improve reliability through preventive/predictive maintenance, planning, scheduling, and root cause analysis.

  • Optimize paper machine performance, equipment uptime, productivity, and product quality.

  • Manage plant financial performance, including cost per ton, labor, maintenance, fiber, chemical, and energy costs.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven problem-solving methods.

  • Develop and strengthen leadership, technical, and hourly teams.

  • Build and execute recovery plans for underperforming operations with measurable business impact

Qualifications


 



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.

  • 15+ years of manufacturing leadership experience in tissue, paper, pulp, or related process industries.

  • Proven experience leading paper machine operations and driving performance improvements.

  • Demonstrated success managing operational turnarounds and improving underperforming facilities.

  • Strong knowledge of papermaking processes, maintenance and reliability systems, continuous improvement, and plant financial management.

  • Proven ability to lead large teams, develop talent, and drive organizational change.


 


Preferred Experience


 



  • Tissue manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

  • Progressive leadership experience from Operations/Production Management into Plant or Mill Leadership.

  • Track record of improving safety, OEE, uptime, quality, productivity, and cost performance.

Your challenge!

Reporting to the General Manager, the Plant Manager’s mission is to establish his or her unit’s performance standards and achieve the established objectives by developing an action plan that respects business rules and processes as well as best manufacturing practices. You therefore participate in the implementation of specific processes, practices and tools within your unit aimed at optimizing operational efficiency while prioritizing health and safety. You also use your leadership to build a mobilized and competent team and support their production efforts while nurturing a culture of continuous improvement and health and safety. As a result, you promote the achievement of your unit's business objectives by positively influencing the adoption of healthy and safe behaviours, operating costs, performance and production capacity and quality.

Individual responsibilities

Accountable


Ensure the safety of its employees and a safe environment free of all risks.


Ensure optimal execution of operations by achieving targets in terms of occupational health and safety, production capacity, standardization of operating costs and quality


Ensure compliance with Cascades’ business processes in the plant, in accordance with established business rules and best practices


Prepare and execute investment and asset maintenance plans, and meet return on investment targets


Engage and develop all your employees


Ensure the execution of the Collective Bargaining Agreement/Employee Handbook and highlight areas for improvement with the union/committee


 


Responsible


Establish performance standards (availability, efficiency, OEE) in collaboration with the General Manager


Lead weekly meetings with your team and SUs to analyze KPIs, and discuss and launch required action plans


Collaborate in the implementation of optimization projects specific to your unit


Foster a culture of continuous improvement and ensure the sustainability of Lean Manufacturing best practices


Experiences and strengths

Ability to understand customer needs, issues and interests in order to develop solutions that support their experience

Agility needed to work with various technological tools


Knowledge of SAP software or other ERP (an asset)
