BASIC FUNCTIONS

The Plant Manager provides strategic leadership and overall direction for the Production Department. This role is responsible for driving performance in safety, quality, production efficiency, profitability, and employee development. By effectively leading Group Managers and other production leaders, the Plant Manager supports the achievement of company goals and operational objectives. The position also analyzes ERP data, production forecasts, and quality metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides overall leadership and is accountable for results in areas of safety, quality, environmental impact, production efficiency, profit, training and development of workforce.
  • Leads, coaches, develops, and evaluates Group Managers and other production leaders to ensure achievement of departmental and company objectives.
  • Establishes department goals, performance expectations and strategic priorities while ensuring adequate resources are available to meet production requirements. 
  • Provides leadership and direction to Group Managers in resolving operational issues, managing priorities, production schedules and deadlines.
  • Oversees the performance management process, including employee evaluations, development planning and succession planning for production leadership personnel.
  • Coordinates activities of the Production department with related activities of other departments to ensure efficiency, safety, training, environmental compliance, quality, profit, productivity, and capability.
  • Monitors and analyzes operational performance, quality metrics, and production costs, implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives as necessary. 
  • Prepares and presents reports and records for the Production department activities to management.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and practices that support operational excellence, safety, quality, and company objectives. 
  • May initiate or approve employee hiring, promotion, transfer, disciplinary action, and termination in accordance with company policies. 
  • Participates in leadership meetings, customer visits, audits, training activities, and other business-related functions. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in management or related field, or 10 years of experience in an industrial environment

Experience: 

  • 5+ years’ production management experience in plastics manufacturing, extrusion manufacturing or other industrial production setting.
  • Experience with ERP systems is required.

Skills/Aptitude: 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and facilitate change. 
  • Proven leadership, coaching, problem-solving, and analytical abilities. 
  • Ability to interpret and analyze ERP data, production metrics, forecasts, and quality performance indicators. 
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety regulations, quality management systems, budgeting, and workforce development practices. 
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational improvements and support organizational goals.

Working Conditions: 

  • Factory and office environment, potential for airborne particles, high heat, noise

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a post offer background check and drug screen in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.

Pay: $100,000-$130,000 per year (DOE)
